2019 AGM Outcomes

The 2019 Annual General Meeting for the Norths Basketball Club was held on 17th March 2019.

A very small group of people attended the meeting with all but 2 being current committee members. This was a very disappointing attendance result for a club that has over 400 members and is at the forefront of providing community access for so many people to basketball in Canberra, and especially in the Gungahlin region.

Vacant Committee positions were filled at the 2019 AGM as follows:

  • President - Vacant not filled*
  • Vice President - Vacant not filled*
  • Secretary - Stephen Carroll (elected)
  • Senior Coordinator - Donna Wallace (re-elected)
  • Uniform Officer - Ellen Robinson (re-elected)

Thank you to Donna Wallace and Ellen Robinson for taking on the Senior Coordinator and Uniform Officer roles respectively once again.

A big thanks goes to Stephen Carroll for stepping up and taking on the Club Secretary role. Its good to see new faces on the Committee with fresh ideas.

In the absence of any nominations for President and Vice President the positions were declared vacant.

Note - Mark Mckenzie has since agreed to act in an interim role for 2019 but on a limited engagement due to work commitments over the year. David Maplesden has since stepped into the Vice President role on an interim basis until a permanent position holder can be found.

A big problem for the club is filling the President role. This position has been officially vacant for 2 years. If anybody can help the club out and take on the President's role please contact NorthsPresidentyahoo.com.au to discuss how we can help you take on this position.

Without new volunteers there is a very real risk that the Club’s future will be in doubt. A number of the current Committee members have had long standing tenures and wish to retire, but cannot do so because of the lack of interest from other club members in coming onto the committee.
