Season Structure Update 2020 - 2021
(posted September 2020)
We understand that now is usually the time that we’d be planning for the upcoming summer season. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our winter season started late and will be extending into December.
Therefore, our usual rhythm has been affected and Basketball ACT (BACT) will not be running a traditional summer season. As the 2020 competition is well underway, it also means that we don’t have any positions available in the existing teams.
Because the summer season usually starts in School Term 4 and runs for the duration of School Term 1 the following year, the different 2020 structure means that the competition structure will also change for 2021. Basketball ACT (BACT) are considering a range of options for next year and will be making a determination shortly.
The best option we can recommend at the moment for those seeking to play basketball is to partake in the training programs offered by BACT. This will help new and returning players transition into the 2021 competition. Links to these programs are included below:

For those who are interested in playing for Norths in 2021, please send your details to (for juniors) Juniors@northsbasketball.com.au (for Seniors) Seniors@northsbasketball.com.au and we will keep you up to date as information becomes available.
Equality and Inclusion
(posted July 2020)
Some of you may have seen recent articles in the press regarding the alleged use of racial slurs during basketball games in Canberra.
These articles serve as a timely reminder to players, coaches, parents and volunteers that we all have a role to play in preserving the integrity of the game and doing our part to uphold the values of the sport.
At Norths we strive to foster a community of equality and inclusion, where players of all ages and skill levels can come together to share their love of basketball. We pride ourselves on being a Development Club and believe that everyone should have the opportunity to play basketball in a safe and supportive environment.
To that end, please do not hesitate to raise the issue if you observe or become aware of any behaviour that contradicts this intent. This can be raised with the team manager or coach in the first instance, or by contacting our senior committee members including myself.
Together we can send a clear message that any behaviour that undermines equality and inclusion has no place in our sport. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further please do not hesitate to contact me via at President@northsbasketball.com.au

Basketball and COVID-19
(posted June 2020)
We're so pleased to see everyone back on the court. However, there are some extra protocols we need to follow in the current environment.
Please read the Norths Return To Play in a Covid-Safe Environment document on the rules and conditions that we are obliged to put into place for players, parents and coaches to join in on the road back to playing.
Please note that players will not be allowed to attend team training sessions if they have not registered with Norths to play in the 2020 Winter season.
If anyone has any questions or would like to discuss further please speak with your team coach or manager. Alternatively, please contact the relevant coordinator at:
