2021 Winter Competitions
The 2021 Basketball ACT Junior & Senior winter competitions will be finalised by the end of 2021.
2022 Summer Competitions for Juniors:
Basketball ACT (BACT) is bringing in a re-structured and shorter summer season for junior players. The following three competitions will be held for juniors during the summer season:
Junior Summer Slam – a top tier competition for juniors that will be managed exclusively by Basketball ACT. It is being offered to Under 15 and Under 17 age groups only and played on Saturday nights. BACT will conduct a series of trials ahead of a Junior Slam Draft process where BACT appointed coaches will select players for a team. The Junior Slam commences 15 January 2022 with Grand Finals on 12 February 2022. Further information on participating in the Junior Slam can be found on the Basketball ACT Junior Slam site.
Junior Summer Open - this is the second tier for juniors over the summer season. It is being offered for Under 12 - Under 19 age groups but is restricted to one Club-based team per age group. The Junior Open Season commences 14-16 January 2022 with Grand Finals on 18-20 February 2022.
Junior Social (Summer) competition – Junior Social will be aimed at players currently at a Div 1-6 level and players who missed out on the Junior Slam and Junior Open competitions. It will be contested across boys and girls divisions across U10’s - U19’s age groups and is open to Clubs and Non-Club based teams. The Junior Social (Summer) competition commences 14-16 January 2022 with Grand Finals on 18-20 February 2022.
Further information on these programs can be found on the Basketball ACT website.
Important Information for Norths Juniors
The Norths Committee has decided that Norths will not be registering club teams in the Junior Summer Open or Junior Social competitions as described above. The main reason for this decision is that the Club is concerned about the significant amount of time and effort this would impose on volunteer coordinators, coaching directors, and financial managers to organise and register teams over the Christmas and New Year period.
Whilst this may come as a disappointment to many, the Committee decided that it was more practical to look after our small band of volunteers over this period to ensure the longer-term welfare of our club.
However, if you would still like to play over the summer period, we encourage you to talk with your coach, manager and teammates and consider registering directly with Basketball ACT as a Non-Club based team in the Junior Summer Social competition. Non-Club based teams can contain players that played in the 2021 winter season for any BACT Member club but those players must return to their member club for the 2022 Winter season. You can wear your Norths uniforms and even call your team Norths XXX but Norths will not be providing a coach, training time slots or collecting fees for these teams. Details on registering a team in the Junior Summer Social competition can be found on the Basketball ACT Junior Social site.
2022 Summer Competitions for Seniors:

Equality and Inclusion
At Norths we strive to foster a community of equality and inclusion, where players of all ages and skill levels can come together to share their love of basketball. We pride ourselves on being a Development Club and believe that everyone should have the opportunity to play basketball in a safe and supportive environment.
To that end, please do not hesitate to raise the issue if you observe or become aware of any behaviour that contradicts this intent. This can be raised with the team manager or coach in the first instance, or by contacting our senior committee members including myself.
Together we can send a clear message that any behaviour that undermines equality and inclusion has no place in our sport. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further please do not hesitate to contact me via at President@northsbasketball.com.au
